Later Life Fitness sessions are tailored for nursing homes, sheltered housing schemes and later life groups across Hampshire. Our clients range from local authorities to private establishments. We specialise in safe, fun exercise geared towards the prevention of falls.
It is never too late to start exercising. This class involves the older members of society getting involved in exercise and staying active.
These classes are aimed to improve the well being and fitness levels of the older generation, and will take place in local retirement and old peoples homes. The low intensity fitness sessions vary from strength and mobility activities, to low level cardiovascular activities.
It's a great chance to stay fit, healthy and be with others in a fun environment!
As a guide for this class, entry levels are as follows:-
• No previous exercise experience required
• Bring a bottle of water
• You should have some mobility
• You should have the all clear from your doctor
• Be able to withstand doing a form of exercise for an hour

Inactivity, not aging is the enemy. Keeping an active life style as we mature is very important. Things like putting on weight, getting weaker and less mobile are almost always due to activity levels falling far below what they should be.
Space travel has shown that after a few days in a weightless environment- the ultimate state of inactivity- astronauts who are some of the fittest people in the planet have shown signs of degradation traditionally associated with the effect of aging. They had high blood pressure, deconditioned muscle groups, more fragile bones, lack of co-ordination and balance. All of this returned to normal after a period of physical training back on earth.
The effects of inactivity are very similar on earth. So naturally keeping active for as long as possible as we grow older should be a priority shouldn’t it?
Sadly, in recent survey, only 16% of people over 60 take part in more than an hour of exercise a week. That’s what Getfit121 aims to change. By attending our classes we aim to improve movement, greatly reduce the risk of falls, increase flexibility and make you aware of other risks and how to tackle them, such as diabetes, osteoporosis, and rheumatism.
