Premiership footballer helps Winchester company in charity run

A PREMIERSHIP footballer has teamed up with aWinchester company to raise money for charity.

Getfit121, a professional fitness group, enlisted the help of Premiership footballer Wayne Bridge to sponsor a 30-mile endurance run for Help for Heroes.

Bridge grew up in the city, attending Oliver’s Battery Primary and King’s Secondary School, before going on to play for Southampton, Chelsea and Manchester City, as well as his country.

The run, which was held in Dartmoor, is known as a “yomp” and is the final endurance test taken to become a Royal Marine.

It was organised by Getfit121’s own ex-marine Simon Weatherall, who led a team of 20 to complete the course in only one day. Together they raised £6,600 for the charity.
